I'm surprised how quiet this board has become... What happened to all the vile about people buying these and reselling them?

But seriously, I'm surprised the regular price of this set is only $50. If we value the pieces closer to 10cents each, shouldn't the retail on this be closer to $80? Maybe Lego is doing this on purpose to hook the new generation of kids. I managed to order 3 for my friends and extended family's kids xmas gifts. Was almost tempted to buy more as I missed out on this deal the past 2 years.

These didn't disappear nearly as quickly as the boxes from last year did. Last year I was in 2 different Walmarts before 9:00am, and both were already sold out. This year, I got some around 9:00am (and they still had lots), and then got some more around 4:30pm (and they still had a bunch). Some stores in my area still had stock on Saturday. They also lasted way longer on-line this year.

Was there just less interest in them because they were smaller boxes? We're they not promoted as heavily? Did they stock more of them? Did the slightly higher price per piece deter people? I don't know. I ended up with 18 of them so I'm happy. Sorting 16,200 new pieces into my collection will keep me busy for a while...

yeah, I've also noticed lately that activity on this board has really dropped over the past few months. No clue where everyone went as I'm not particularly active on any Lego board.

The classic Lego boxes have always had a lower price per piece than the theme sets. Even more so now with Toys R Us offering 10654 and 10705 for $80, but both currently on sale for $60. Those sets really extended the time that you see 10697 for sale on Craigslist. Didn't take long for 10704 to also hit Craigslist, though I imagine they'll sell slowly as well. There seemed to be a lot more of them available this year and maybe the reselling frenzy is slowing down
