Re: 2012 Friends (New Girl's Theme)
Some of those bricks/plates look like Megablock quality. (Like the gold pieces in PQ.) I understand the outsourcing/compromise for the lipstick/cupcakes pieces, but the ones that are classic bricks/plates should be held to the LEGO standard.
I'm totally jealous. I wanted a Pet Vet and Cafe for City and even the rest. I might have to buy those and tweak them to fit into the City. Get ready for customs.
Maybe they can make a half or full sized grocery store which is something I've been waiting on.

What parts are you referring too?SpaceNinjaDino wrote:Some of those bricks/plates look like Megablock quality. (Like the gold pieces in PQ.) I understand the outsourcing/compromise for the lipstick/cupcakes pieces, but the ones that are classic bricks/plates should be held to the LEGO standard.
..
We need to remember these are preliminary pics.
Some of them most likely still have test parts in them. Especially since Friends isn't coming out until April.

Re: 2012 Friends (New Girl's Theme)
Geez, how did I go 2 days without seeing this thread? I've been complaining about lack of girl sets for a while now, and these seem "ok" to me. I don't love how the figs look like polly pockets.
I really wish LEGO would get some balls and just make an entire set with mostly female and a few male minifigs....we have tons of minifigs and I think mixing these "figs" with minifigs might look ridiculous. I agree w/ ncbarrett:
It's interesting b/c Playmobil is doing "mystery figs" and they have blue bags for boy figs and pink for girls....$2.99 each and actually pretty nice for the price (better value than CMF, IMO).

I showed the pics to my 6 year old daughter and she was drawn to them immediately, I guess *I'm* the one who doesn't like the look of it that much (vs my daughter).ncbarrett wrote:I very much agree with this, why not make a polybag or $5 set with a girl police officer or firefighter.
The jet ski 30015 did come with a girl, but was very disappointed it was exact same as in Marina.![]()

Re: 2012 Friends (New Girl's Theme)
Ok I thought about this some more. I wonder if this would lead to LEGO making a Cinderella set (coach, castle) with a Cinderella figure that was in this form. Or Rapunzel's Tower with Rapunzel.....I guess I can hope!

Anything is possible now that they have several agreements with Disney.atmail35 wrote:Ok I thought about this some more. Re: 2012 Friends (New Girl's Theme)
Atmail35 and Relhak- I echo your sentiment exactly. I showed my daughter these preliminary images as well and she was very happy to see them. I pointed out how they were not Lego minifigs in the sets and she didn't seem to care. She was too happy looking at what you DO get-glass half full type of person she is.
I looked at them with her and I liked them too-right up until the horrible minifigures. Girls already have polly pocket and bratz-what's the need to make them look so close to something else? I'm the one with the problem, as I've already stated. My daughter (the age group Lego is targeting) is pleased. Nice vibrant colors and a lot of playability for their age group. I like the tree house set-it even has a small tree house for the animals.
Now pink and purple brick lovers will have something to go with the pink buckets...

Re: 2012 Friends (New Girl's Theme)
i was wondering if you can swap the new mf parts with the old mf parts. i know you can with hairpiece but what about torso, legs and heads?
Re: 2012 Friends (New Girl's Theme)
My sister was hoping that they'd be actual lego girls. She was pretty disappionted when she saw the pics.
Re: 2012 Friends (New Girl's Theme)
This is quite possible, especially since lego now has an agreement with Disney Princesses.atmail35 wrote:Ok I thought about this some more. Re: 2012 LEGO Friends (January)
I love everything about these sets... except for those figures. I've been trying to keep my daughter interested in Lego and we've amassed a good number of female minifigs that she enjoys playing with. While I love the new buildings in these sets and the colors, I kind of dread her abandoning the minifigs once she gets hold of these. I'm not sure if these new figs will have interchangeable parts. If not, the minifigs might win out because she loves being able to change the looks of them.
As for the look of these new figures, kind of look like the offspring of Lego Minifigs and the Mega Blocks Disney princess line from a few years back.
As for Paradisa, I always thought it was waiting to be mixed with a couple police sets to make a Miami Vice scene.

Re: 2012 LEGO Friends (January)
I showed these to my sisters a while back, they liked them a lot, but they preferred that they came with classic mini-figures like the CMF's I've been getting them. I think that's consensus from everyone else I've been hearing from on this subject. I guess this is to target the audience of girls that aren't into Lego period. Shame though I think the classic minifigures would still have worked as good (if not better) with this line.
Re: 2012 LEGO Friends (January)
I think this set will be a best seller

They are individual pieces that make up each figure.Sinfanti wrote:... I'm not sure if these new figs will have interchangeable parts. If not, the minifigs might win out because she loves being able to change the looks of them....

Re: 2012 LEGO Friends (January)
Seems each set only has 1 Girl fig. Which means you are then compelled to buy each girl for each set box.... Unless you just buy the 10 dollar sets to get the figs and just buy a big set that your daughter likes the best. hmmmm What do you think?
Re: 2012 LEGO Friends (January)
this theme will be focused less on mf collecting and probably more on accessories collecting.macmon wrote:Seems each set only has 1 Girl fig. tbh, i'm not really digging the theme's color of pale blue, purple and pink. it'll be great for parts pack but if the idea is to appeal to girls, it's not really doing such a great job.
they should just focus on producing great sets instead of worry about making it a "parts pack". for e.g. the roadster is absolutely horrible. should just build a normal looking roadster in ferrari red color. or one in bright yellow like bumblebee from transformers. there's no denying the current purple/blue car will be fantastic as parts pack, but the whole is less than the sum of its parts currently. and as such, it will sell, but only during clearance by bargain hunters looking for "parts pack."
the bedroom/furniture set looks horrible too. should just focus on more traditional colors of dark brown, brown, tan, black, white, etc. the rooms can be colorful as is seen in most doll houses, but colorful kiddy furnitures too? too colorful just makes the whole set looks ugly. way too "polly pocket" like, which actually caters to much smaller age group.
in fact, i think this theme would pair up better with the muji experiment. there are plenty of ways to deco, and what better way than with paper? for e.g. the stairs runners. colorful multi-pattern prints + muji hole puncher = various customizability. another e.g., drapes - made from paper folds (with instructions). dresses, table cloths, etc.
then again, we may never know since all the above are hypothetical.... :-P it's not like we can compare a theme without my plans and one with to gauge the reaction of the buying public.
Re: 2012 LEGO Friends (January)
I disagree, I think girls will like the pink, purple and teal. If they want brown furniture certainly they can switch it out with the brown bricks they have at home.natelite wrote:tbh, i'm not really digging the theme's color of pale blue, purple and pink. it'll be great for parts pack but if the idea is to appeal to girls, it's not really doing such a great job.

I agree, i am happy to have any rare color in larger volume, my wife like teal a lot, and of course my daughter will like them lots.atmail35 wrote: I disagree, I think girls will like the pink, purple and teal...
